Fried food
So since I came to the US, I’ve had a lot of different fried food. French fires, curly fries, chicken nuggets, fried fish, fried chiken, fried rice, I have even had fried cookie dough. But over the last week I’ve gotten really sick of it. I’ve had enough of fried food, at least that’s what I thought.
So today I was in the mood for something else. My roommate and I went to the mall and we wanted something to eat. We looked around at the food court, and I was undecided if I wanted pizza or something else. Couldn’t really figure out exactly what I wanted. But we passed this place called Great Steakes and Potato, and they had a delicious picture of a baked potato, with melted cheese, bacon and sour cream. The King Potato. As I was about to order the king potato I saw another picture of Coney Island French Fries. Only 3 dollars. So I got a king potato with fried potatos on the side.

Hahaha, I can completely relate. Ever since I've come to college I have frequently found myself getting sick of unhealthy food, especially fried things. I often seek out healthier options, but for me it's just too difficult, and like you, I usually find myself continuing to munch on some less than wholesome meals.
ReplyDeleteYou need to try fried cauliflower. It is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI love fried food too, but in the US we seem to only fry potatoes and meats. What about something healthier/tastier like fresh vegatables?
ReplyDeleteIf you go to the farmers market a lot or get a CSA box and don't know what to do with something, make tempura, it's fantastic and dirt cheap.

I like that many of us can relate to being sick of unhealthy food. The consensus seems to be that if left to our own devices, humans would eat the worst things possible until we explode. But if we listen to our bodies, they seem to lead us in the better direction more than we think! Anyway, I sympathize.
ReplyDeleteDeep fried food was all I ate in California two weeks ago. I ended up going to little Tokyo a few times and the only thing that sounded good was tempura. Makes me want some now.
ReplyDeleteBut last semester I did the same thing with pizza. It was just so easy to make when I was busy, or easy to get delivered when it was snowing. Not to mention buying oven bake pizza at rainbow is just so cheep its hard to think of something else when i need to save money. But after the semester was over I didn't even want to look at pizza because it would make me feel a little sick. Even now I still hesitate on ordering some.
I was surprised with variety and the amount of fried foods at the State Fair. Foods in the State Fair made me realized that I'm in the U.S.
ReplyDeleteOccasionally, I do get a strong compulsion to go to KFC to get oily chickens but that is once in a while.
U.S. makes me roam around the Washington Ave. because I don't know what to eat when I got sick of fried foods.
