Food Diary

Thursday March 3rd:
Breakfast(8:15am)-
Glass of Kemps Select skim milk
Why: I woke up late. Kemps Select because it said the cows weren't given growth hormones. I honestly have no idea what that means for my health but it was only .30 cents more..

In Class Snack(9:45am)-
"Everything" bagel and veggie cream cheese
Why: Tastes good. Easy to pack at home and take on the run

After Class (4pm)-
12 oz French Roast Coffee.
Why: I don't know anything about coffee other than the fact that I need it to survive. French roast sounds sophisticated and I like other french things, like the language and in theory the country. Sound stupid, but it's true.

Home (7pm)-
Slice of Pepper Jack Cheese
Activia Yougurt
Cheeze- Its
Why: I hadn't gone grocery shopping, and coffee kills my appetite.

Late Night (10pm):

3 Dove Chocolates
Why: I like eating when I watch TV, especially chocolate. My mom sent these in a care package, they are my favorites because they have stupid cheesy sayings written inside the wrapper and they melt in your mouth.

Friday March 4th, 2011

Breakfast(9:00am)
-
Bowl of Special K and dried strawberries
Why: My mom gave me a box of Special K last time I went home.

Lunch (1:00pm)-
Everything bagel and cream cheese
Cheeze-Its
Why: Tastes good and easy to quick bring with to work.

Dinner (9:00 pm)
Grilled Cheese /w Jalapenos
Activia Yogurt
Why: My mom gave me the yogurt last time I went home and I like grilled cheese.


Late Night (11pm) -

Vodka Cranberry
Shot of (repulsive) rootbeer liqour
Glass of wine
Why: My friends chose and bought all of the above. I like vodka cranberries and the wine was good, but peer pressure definitely was a factor in the rootbeer shot. ugh.

Friday March 5th, 2011

Breakfast (9am)

Cream filled donut with chocolate frosting
Orange Juice
Why: My manager donuts brought them into work, I was late, it was the last one.

Lunch (12:00)-

4 snack size Kit Kats
Why: I forgot to pack lunch, didn't feel like spending money, was to lazy to walk somewhere and my co-worker brought a big bag of them in to work.

Dinner (8pm)
-
8 Boneless Buffalo Wings
Ranch Dressing
Celery Sticks
Milk
Why: Drove home to my parents house after work, that's what they were having.

Saturday March 6th, 2011.

Breakfast 11am
Pillsbury Toaster Strudel with Icing
Eggo Chocolate Chip Waffle
2 Glasses of 1% Milk
Why: Because I was home for the first weekend in a while and my mom always buys yummy junk breakfast foods. It tastes good and I have a sweet tooth.

Lunch (2pm)
kettle style potato chips
Dean's Fench onion dip
Diet coke
M&M's
Why: my favorite snacks.

Dinner 6pm
Roast Turkey
Mashed Potatoes
Stove-Top Turkey Stuffing
Pillsbury crescent rolls
Some kind of white Wine
Why: It's what my family made for dinner.

Late Night (10pm)
Chocolate Cupcakes
Why: My little brother made them and offered me one. It was awesome so I ate two.

This is the first time I have ever really taken the time to reflect on my diet and daily food intake. It made me aware that sometimes factors other than the taste or ingredients influence the decisions I make, such as packaging. I also realized that a lot of time my choices have to do with convenience, cravings, what I can eat on the go, and what has been provided for or given to me. My diet is very situational, and what I eat depends on who I am with or what has been put in front of me. I realized that I don't always make very active choices when it comes to what I eat, and I don't think that's a good thing.
