Food Log: 3/4-3/6

I really tried hard to document everything that I ate and the ingredients in them so my food log has gotten pretty lengthy. Sometimes if I ate something more than once I put the ingredients at the bottom of my entry.

Friday:

Breakfast: Bagel with egg and Kraft American cheese, Coffee with creamer, a glass of pineapple-orange juice

Where: my apartment

When: approx. 9:00AM

Why: I always need a cup of coffee to start my days, and Fridays I usually have a special breakfast because I have time in the morning to cook.

Lunch: Breyer’s parfait yogurt with strawberries and granola, Grape Cranberry Juice, and a Chewy Bar

Where: Coffman Union

When: approx. 2:00PM

Why: I was in a time crunch and I forgot to pack a lunch like I normally do. So I had to spend way too much money on a fairly simple lunch. I was also trying to stay away from the Orange Chicken and Pizza in the food court so I opted for the yogurt and granola bar instead. This isn’t a normal thing for me, I usually have soup or a salad for lunch during the week.

Dinner: Punjab eggplant with chicken and rice, a can of Miller light , glass of water

Where: my apartment

When: around 5:45PM

Why: I get really bored of eating the same types of meals every night, and like to explore different types of dishes. Growing up, my father loved to try new recipes and I often ate meals made with curry and other spices. Now I love spicy foods, but have only recently tried to make dishes incorporating different spices. It’s a lot of fun to explore all the different dishes you can make and the different flavors you can create by mixing spices together. I had a Miller because I’m from Wisconsin, and my friends and I were celebrating my roommate’s dance performance in the spring concert.

  • Punjab ingredients: eggplant tomatoes, onions, sunflower oil, garlic, salt, coriander, chilies, ginger, cumin, turmeric, cloves.
  • Minute Maid® Cranberry Grape ingredients: filtered water, sweetness ( high fructose corn syrup, sugar0, apple, cranberry and grape juices from concentrate, less that 1% of natural flavors, citric acid (provides tartness) vitamin c, grape skin extract (for color)

Saturday

Breakfast: Half of a bagel with peanut butter, glass of pineapple-orange juice, espresso with creamer, and a strawberry

Where: my apartment

When: 11:00AM

Why: Bagels are really quick to make in the mornings so that is always a plus, and it can be made many ways so I don’t get bored of them after I buy them. Sometimes I prefer espresso over plain coffee because it is not as much liquid so I don’t waste as many coffee beans.

Snack: -Tomato and basil hummus with Wheat Thins, glass of water

Where: apartment

When: around 2:00PM

Why: I really enjoy hummus because it is a unique flavor and goes well on crackers. It is also a departure from the usually cheese or dairy based dips that I sometimes eat for lunch. It is pretty normal for me to have a very light snack during the weekends and not a full lunch because I sleep in until 11:00 or such and therefore don’t need a full meal between breakfast and dinner.

-A couple of handfuls of popcorn, and a bag of gummy bears, bottle of water

Where: Movie Theater

When: 5:00PM

Why: Honestly, who doesn’t go to the movie theater and doesn’t have a snack or two. My friends bought popcorn and offered me some so I ate some that’s basically it.

Dinner: Left over Punjab Chicken on rice, a glass of milk

Where: apartment

When: around 7:30PM

Why: I usually make big dinners when I have time on certain week nights and then eat the left-overs when I am in a time crunch but do not feel like spending money or going out to get food.

Sunday:

Breakfast: Bagel with peanut butter, and low-fat yogurt, Coffee with Creamer, and milk

Where: apartment

When: around 11:00 a.m.

Why: Bagels and yogurt are really easy to make, which is a plus in the morning when I’m sleepy and haven’t had my cup of coffee yet.

Lunch: Wheat thins with hummus

Where: Comstock Hall

When: around 2:00 p.m.

Why: As I stated early, I really enjoy hummus because it’s flavorful and different from most dips.

Dinner: Cane’s 3 pieces Chicken fingers Combo meal with French fries and Texas toast, Root-beer

Where: Raising Cane’s on Washington Ave.

When: around 7:30 p.m.

Why: My friend and I were looking to go somewhere to eat, and it was close to her apartment.

-I also love Cane’s Chicken fingers so it was a win-win.
