Valium

Ad

I think there are two disturbing parts of this article one is the marketing and the other is that they are suggesting valium to be given out for anxiety.

To specifically advertise valium to the "older" (yet only 35 year old), single woman is just pushing the stereotype that a woman has to be married by a certain age. It also seems that the manufacturers of the drug rare trying to get doctors to prescribe it for any single woman over the age of 35. I also cant imagine taking them advocating valium for anxiety seeing as it is a highly addictive drug.

  1. I love that the 'cure' for aiding a single woman at age 35 includes too many side effects to count. The ad mentions how Valium can aid sleep and yet a side effect is sleep disturbance. What? It also describes Valium as an aid for an anxious state of mind. Another side effect is anxiety. Okay...

I feel like the ad can serve as a warning. Get married before you turn 35 or you will become a person who needs this drug. You don't want a "neurotic sense of failure, guilt, or loss." Also make sure that the man you intend to marry measures up to your father. Welcome to 1970.
